HAF PROGRAM
Supporting Families, Enriching Lives
At Changing Lives Community Services, we believe that every child deserves a safe, active, and nourishing environment during the school holidays. Our Holiday and Food Program (HAF) in Colchester, Essex, provides a vital lifeline for children who receive benefit-based free school meals, ensuring they have access to engaging activities, nutritious meals, and holistic wellbeing support during the holiday periods.
Staying active is essential for children’s physical and mental wellbeing. Our program provides a variety of sports, games, and creative play sessions designed to encourage movement, teamwork, and self-confidence. Whether it’s football, dance, or outdoor adventure activities, every child gets the opportunity to have fun while improving their fitness and coordination.
For many children, school meals are their main source of nutrition, and the holidays can bring uncertainty about their next meal. Our HAF program ensures that every child receives a hot, healthy, and balanced meal each day, supporting their growth, concentration, and overall wellbeing. We also educate families on affordable and nutritious meal choices, empowering them beyond the program.
The school holidays can be an isolating time for children from low-income families. Our sessions are designed to foster friendships, boost self-esteem, and provide emotional support. Through group activities, mindfulness exercises, and a caring environment, we help children develop social skills and emotional resilience, ensuring they feel included and valued.
Learning doesn’t stop when school is out! Our workshops engage children in arts, crafts, music, and life skills, sparking creativity and curiosity. Whether they are trying out a new hobby, building confidence in self-expression, or learning essential skills for the future, our program ensures that every child continues to grow and discover new talents.
