Empowering Refugees at RAF Wethersfield

Supporting Men Seeking Asylum Through Sports, Learning & Wellbeing

At Changing Lives Community Services, we proudly deliver targeted support and community programmes at RAF Wethersfield—a former MOD base now housing male refugees and asylum seekers.

In partnership with the Home Office, The FA, and Essex County Council, we provide a holistic package of sport, education, and mentoring to improve the lives of those navigating an extremely difficult transition. Our work is centred around promoting mental health, physical activity, social integration, and skill-building—helping residents not just survive, but move forward with purpose and dignity.

What We Deliver at RAF Wethersfield

🏋️‍♂️ Physical & Mental Wellbeing Through Sport

We run weekly sports and fitness sessions, including football and cricket designed to reduce isolation, improve mood, and boost confidence among men living on-site.

📈 Multiply Maths Courses – Upskilling for Life

Through collaboration with Essex County Council, we’ve delivered Multiply-funded maths workshops to help residents improve their numeracy and practical life skills, opening doors to further education and employment in the UK.

🎓 Football Coaching Pathways with The FA

With the support of The Football Association, we’ve launched entry-level football coaching courses, giving residents the chance to gain official qualifications, build leadership skills, and start their coaching journey in the UK.
